GENCO has an immediate opening for a Director of Business Development – Key Accounts, in our GENCO marketplace (GMP) Business Unit.

The business unit is focused on optimizing the return it obtains for sellers (principally large retailers and manufacturers of Consumer Products) of liquidated product (largely returns and overstocked items) through its GENCO marketplace. This is done by creating optimal product handling strategies and using an established and growing base of buyers of liquidated product – increasingly through the use of its on-line marketplace.

As the Director of Business Development – Key Accounts the incumbent will be responsible for identifying potential customer liquidation opportunities from existing GENCO/GMP large retailer customers that can be optimized though GMP and providing existing GMP customers with unique solutions to maximize recovery of liquidation opportunities. The position will include developing manufacturing relationships to secure liquidation product. The incumbent must be able to articulate the GENCO and GENCO Marketplace value proposition and identify new opportunities.

The position is responsible for:Securing merchandise salable in the secondary market (close-outs, returns, clearance) to supply required to meet/exceed GENCO Marketplace budget.Communicating the GENCO and GMP value proposition and closing new business within GENCO/GMP existing accounts which include both retailers and manufacturers.Developing new programs, attending industry events, making cold calls, networking, working with GENCO on joint sales, etc. to secure additional sources of supply.Expanding/Growing supply from existing sources.Working directly with GMP and cross functional GENCO teams to ensure that all aspects of sales are facilitated.Compiling and documenting all product details required for sale.Developing account plans and managing key supply accounts.Interacting with supply customers to manage expectations and requirements.Responding to leads generated by marketing.Managing P&L for department, tracking expenditures, providing ongoing status, escalating missed deliverables, modifying approach to achieve deliverables and defining future MRP targets.Reporting goals, Key Performance Indicator, action items status as required.Creating market segment expertise as assigned.Communicating in a positive manner with all areas and levels – Sources, Buyers, GMP Management, GMP Teammates and GENCO Corporate personnel.Ensuring adherence to GMP policies and procedures.Completing other tasks and projects as assigned.

Required Skills


The successful candidate will have:College degree required, MBA preferred or equivalent.Five (5) years working for a major retailer or manufacturer.Demonstrated sales management experience with increasing level of scope Proven Sales and Customer skills. (preference for eight (8) plus years sales experience).Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.Highly skilled with Windows, Lotus Notes, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word.Sense of urgency to solve for the Customer.Previous experience in the secondary market/liquidation a plus.Ability to travel 20% - 50%.
