System Engineer - UMTS UTRAN

Fusion Solutions Inc, has an immediate opportunity available in the Belleview Washington area for an experienced System Engineer with the following skills and qualifications:





 

System Engineer

Provide administration & configuration for the Optimon systems at the Customer premises.  Works closely with the customer to understand their UMTS/UTRAN network and to perform setup and configuration of Optimon Products as needed to ensure the system meets the customer’s need and is functioning according to specifications.  Interface with Engineers and Program Manager (in other locations) to share technical and customer information.  This position is based in Bellevue, WA.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Other duties may be assigned. Integrates, tests, administers and diagnoses telecommunications hardware and software systems and peripherals at the customers’ facilities. Responsible for overall administration of the Customer’s Optimon systems. Configures and customizes system to customers specifications. Provides technical assistance/troubleshooting and support for telecommunications systems (hardware & software). Provides report management and analysis. Supplies information regarding the project to other support groups and departments. Demonstrates an ability to implement new technologies with support from other Tektronix engineers. Must have a working knowledge of the department’s products and applications. Develops and updates procedures for installation, integration, test, and administration of Tektronix’s systems. Conducts systems acceptance with customers. Assists with the technical and pricing efforts in response to a proposal or tender request. Trains the Customer on usage and administration of the system. Reports projects’ progress to his/her manager. Must possess proven customer communication / interaction skills

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION: 

BS degree in EE, technical sciences or equivalent.

4+ years experience in Telecommunications - Wireless (RAN and Core) and wired networks.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

OSI model - Able to identify and discuss the functions of each layer

Network Architecture lay out knowledge

UTRAN/UMTS, GPRS/EDGE, IMS, LTE, Next Gen VoIP networks

Knowledge of Link nomenclatures and purposes (Gb, Gs, Iub, A10, etc)

Wireless Protocol as well VoIP & Converged protocol knowledge: E.g. RANAP, NBAP, RNSAP, ALCAP - SIP, H.323, MEGACO, MGCP, SIP-T, ISUP, RTP/RTCP – vendor specific RAN Implementation (Abis, NBAP, etc).

Per technology specific protocol stack knowledge

Experience in operating a test tool in Monitoring as well as Functional Test/Conformance Test/Load Test

Ability to learn the operation of the Optimon/NSA/Trend Navigate/K18 product families and be able to demonstrate and help customers with operational or test and optimize networks and elements

MS Windows 2003 Enterprise Server

Database architecture & structure, SQL
