Senior Network Engineer

The selected candidate will be responsible for capacity management planning, design and integration for VOD, CHSI and RF based platforms. The selected candidate will also focus on capacity management requirements for ADS, SD, HD, Ad Insertion, DAC, command and control networks, as well as MPEG based Headend Devices.  In addition, the individual will assist with engineering, integration and testing of existing and new MPEG based headend services, devices and other equipment related to Comcast’s converged video and IP networks.  The individual will play a leadership role in capacity management, engineering, testing, network expansion, integrating new products, as well as providing engineering support for field issues throughout the entire Washington market. 

Duties Include (but are not limited to): 
• Identify, design, and integrate capacity management solutions for all IP and RF based product lines. 
• Support corporate and field operational teams in conducting trials of new infrastructure designs/services.
• Leverage leadership and system-level technical skills to work across internal groups, as well as with vendors, and industry partners to create infrastructure designs to support the deployment of new services and new infrastructure capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership on project teams. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in a technical field or related preferred. Equivalent work experience can be considered. 
EXPERIENCE:
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• 5+ years hands-on experience.
• Must have proven deep systems-level thinking and strong communications skills.
• Must have strong background and hands on experience with digital video technologies such as MPEG-2, as well as a strong background of IP and RF, headends, and primary hubs. 
• Must have a strong understanding of digital cable networks, Inside plant wiring, DOCSIS, MPEG, MPTS and SPTS addressing, and VOD.
• Must be able to communicate and get along well with others.
• Must be team oriented.
• Must be able to perform well under stressful situations.
• Must be self-motivated and take the initiative when necessary.
• Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio).
