Expert Software Products Instructional Designer

If so, then we have a unique opportunity for you. Qpass, the Digital Commerce Division of Amdocs, is starting a product training program that is essential for us to succeed in meeting the demand for our products. Our customers are communication service providers, and Qpass products help them build and operate systems that enable their subscribers to browse online storefronts and purchase digital products such as ringtones, music, videos, and games for playback on PCs, mobile devices, or TVs. Qpass offers several high-scale enterprise products that provide a wide range of capabilities, from back-end software that manages all types of financial transactions to front-end, web applications that allow the service provider to define digital products and manage their presentation on storefronts. Qpass products offer a lot of leading-edge capability, and our customers work with our professional services organization or partners to integrate, extend, and operate the system. As the first hire into the training program you will play a critical role in helping shape it as well as developing educational materials. You will work in an agile development setting with several teams to learn the technology and gather input for your courses. You will define the curriculum and create courses for all types of users, including software developers and system operators, and end users who interact with the front-end web applications. You will deliver the initial courses in a train-the-trainer fashion, coordinating with the larger Amdocs training organization to make the training delivery repeatable. To help you succeed, you will have the support of a dedicated developer to create lab exercises, and you will have access to many subject matter experts.  This position requires an expert instructional designer with entrepreneurial energy and attitude, and someone apt at working with subject matter experts onsite and abroad.Responsibilities:· Acquire a detailed understanding of your audiences · Develop a good understanding of Qpass products through collaboration with the software development teams and by reading internal and customer-facing documentation· Design instructor-led and/or self-paced courses targeted at both technical and nontechnical users.· Deliver training to launch customers and to dedicated training delivery personnel· Solicit feedback on training quality and make improvements to the training deliverables and the process as necessary· Build and maintain strong relationships with the Amdocs training delivery organization and understand their training development and delivery process and toolsRequirements:· Excellent instructional design skills.· Excellent writing skills.· Excellent verbal communication skills. You excel at explaining and providing information in a classroom setting.· Self-managing. You take ownership of creating training, and of the entire delivery cycle during initial delivery (time, materials, follow up with answers, etc).  You manage scope to meet deadlines.· Familiar with advanced systems engineering and/or software concepts, such as high-availability architectures, web services, or software design patterns· Strong knowledge of the software development life cycle· Strong bias towards action: open issues drive you crazy· Highly collaborative work demeanor: you seek out, accept, and act on constructive criticism… and you deliver constructive criticism diplomatically as well· Knowledge of mobile content or online commerce a strong plus· Minimum 5 years of work experience in the software industry in a discipline requiring strong written external communication, such as such as instructional design, technical writing, product management, or consulting.· Experience with one of the leading computer-based-training development tools.· Minimum of 2+ years of work experience as a software developer, tester, or system administrator required.· Experience with Scrum a strong plus· Minimum bachelor’s degree in CS, MIS, Technical Communications, or equivalent, or other bachelor’s degree with extensive experience in CS.Travel/Relocation:Occasional travel will be required for this position.  Domestic relocation assistance is available.
