Sales and Marketing Director

GM R*Works, a member of the Interpublic Group of Companies, is an experiential marketing company which specializes in experiential promotions, events and sponsorships for General Motors.  We operate as an agency of record and have an exclusive partnership with General Motors.  We were formed at the request of GM to work exclusively for the Regional Marketing Team in support of local events, promotions and sponsorships in their five sales regions.  We handle events ranging from the Superbowl, Ryder Cup, Essence Music Festival, the Buick Open and El Premio de la Gente-Latin Music Fan Awards to NCAA and a variety of professional sports teams from the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.

 

The Sales and Marketing Director is responsible for developing and implementing effective sales and marketing strategies for the Buick Open.  The position will also contribute to the activation and execution of other Buick Golf events as needed including the Buick Invitational.  Under the influence of the Tournament Director, this position will complement the efforts of the rest of the Buick Golf team and its programs.

 

· Develop and activate Buick Open Sales and Marketing Plan, including:  pricing and inventory, sales goals, sales materials, consumer promotions, assisting with the media plan, engaging GM and PGA TOUR partners, ensuring collateral is consistent with current brand direction and tournament website includes changes and ongoing initiatives

· Lead Corporate Sales, including: developing and presenting proposals and sales presentations, securing all renewals, generating new business via individual efforts and coordination of outside sales force, coordinating outside sales force, leading and overseeing all Pro-am sales, overseeing and executing invoicing and reporting, overseeing all hospitality and expo clients

· Oversee Ticket Program, including: assisting in development of ticket programs and materials, coordinating all credentials and member sales programs, managing the Ticketmaster relationship, creating and executing ticket and consumer promotions with media outlets, managing all on-site elements of ticket program including gate and finance coordination

· Manage Buick Open Intern Program, including: assisting in intern recruitment, providing day to day management and instruction of Interns

· Assist Buick Golf Planning, including:  assisting with all other aspects of Buick Open planning (operations, public relations, volunteer coordination) and planning and executing Buick Invitational and other Buick Golf initiatives as needed

 

Requirements:

· Minimum of 5 yrs experience in a major annual sporting event, preferably within the professional golf industry

· Ability to provide leadership to Sales and Marketing staff and work collaboratively with Operations team

· Maintain very professional and collaborative working environment

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to forge positive, effective relationships with a wide range of personalities and styles

· Unflappable professional image and willingness to represent the tournament at all times

· Knowledge of corporate, agency, private club and volunteer group environments and ability to work successfully within them

· Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
