Recreation Services Supervisor

Principal Responsibilities Develops, implements, and oversees the recreational/activities programs, which includes the sports teams, fitness center, swimming pool, special income-producing programs on and off-site, development and implementation of Health & Wellness Programs, and other activities to meet the interests of the FNAL community. Ensures the provision of facility equipment for activities, services and material maintenance required to operate facilities and programs. Oversees and recommends the requisitions, purchase, repair and improvements of facility equipment. Operates as building manager for all Recreation facilities and grounds; Oversees and ensures maintenance, upkeep, and construction for assigned buildings; Performs safety inspections and maintains safety standards and records. Functions as task manager and obtains and remains up to date on all required training Prepares, administers, and maintains operational budgets, databases, and record keeping systems for allocation of recreation financial resources, registration, safety, schedules, and inventory. Responsible for generating revenue and controlling costs to continue operation of the programs, negotiates contracts and acts as liaison between sub-contractors and the Lab. Develops & maintains the Procedure Manual for all areas of Recreation. Advises employees and users on Lab policies and procedures affecting Recreation; acts as a conduit to provide employees with other activities and discounts outside the Lab. Prepares, approves, and ensures the visibility of communications on activities and programs throughout the Lab, which may include the following: the Website, Fermilab Today, electronic Recreation Newsletter, to name a few. Recommends, develops, and administers needs assessments and surveys for new programs or changes to existing programs to better serve employee needs and Lab objectives. Controls all personnel actions including recruitment, supervision, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions for Recreation personnel. Chairs and/or serves on special interest committees. Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position. Assists with benefit administration activities, including communication, program implementation and annual enrollment
Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience 2-3 years experience in recreation management fieldIn addition to the above qualifications, candidates must possess the following to be considered highly qualified for the position.Essential Functions and Preferred Qualifications Previous experience managing a gym and/or a pool highly desirable Good computer skills; esperience with Filemaker Pro desirable. Previous experience working with outside vendors and contractors Ability to develop recreation programs Ability to work with in fixed budget environment.
