Staff 2 Accountant Description:SUMMARY: Applies accounting principles and concepts to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Assist with the monthly closing of the general ledger including posting journal entries, preparing analytical schedules, uploading interface files, and reviewing the general ledger for proper coding* Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and post journal entries* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules for reporting purposes* Prepare quarterly and annual schedules for the external auditors* Communicate with branch and departmental personnel as necessary to understand their accounting needs, analyze an understand results* Assist with special projects as directed by supervisorQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university; or must be working toward a bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university with minimum of accounting principles and intermediate accounting classes completed; some relevant work experience in a corporate environment up to two years preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals, procedures, financial policies and pronouncements, and government regulations. Ability to produce clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups from both within and outside the Company.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as linear regression analysis, probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of financial analysis, solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel spreadsheet software; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of Lawson general ledger software a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
