Alarm installation technician

Applicants should posses’ good technical and mechanical skills and the desire to learn. A minimum of 1 year experience in audio/video installation or a related field is required. CEDIA or Crestron certification is a plus. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications as summarized below. Applicants must have reliable transportation. Must own industry standard tool set. An aptitude test and technical test will be given during the interview.

Helper Technician:

·  Ability to follow instructions, promptness, eager to learn

·  Not afraid of heights

·  Ability to read map and find addresses



 Apprentice Technician;

·  Use various hand tools. Technician must own or be willing to purchase the required tools

·  Pre-wire low voltage wiring in residential homes during construction phase to N.E.C standards without supervision

·  Terminate various low voltage wiring including RG-6, RG-59, Cat 5 (T-568), and speaker wire

·  Understanding of each low voltage wiring type and their use

·  Use wire troubleshooting tools including tracer/toners and continuity testers

·  Read blueprints for residential homes

·  Ability to lift ~ 60 lb

 

 Installer Technician:

  Mastery of all Level 1 Technician qualifications plus

·  Design and build Cable TV distribution systems using splitters, amplifiers, modulators, etc.

·  Connect basic 1 or 2 line telephone systems and punch blocks

·  Connect Infrared remote control routing systems using IR receivers, IR repeaters, etc.

·  Properly mount (secure, level, centered) various installed equipment including plasma TV’s, projectors, volume controls, and in- wall speakers

·  Familiar with audio equipment including speakers, amplifiers, preamps, receivers, CD changers, etc.

·  Use a Digital Multi-meter

·  Understanding of speaker impedance and impedance matching

·  Understanding of frequency response

·  Connect and troubleshoot single zone speaker distribution systems using switchboxes and volume controls


 Technician:

·  Mastery of all Level 2 Technician qualifications plus

·  Familiar with Windows operating system basics

·  Familiar with various video components including DVD players, DSS receivers, cable boxes, VCR’s, etc.

·  Connect a 7.1 channel home theater which includes speakers, surround receiver, display, and various source equipment

·  Calibrate the audio levels of a home theater using sound level meters

·  Calibrate and optimize video on various types of displays

·  Proficient with IR based touch screen remotes by Philips and Marantz

·  Full understanding of HDTV and digital surround formats

·  Familiar with all types of audio video interconnects and their usage. This includes speaker wire, 75? Coax, toslink, Cat 5, line level audio, DVI, component video, S-video, etc.

·  Knowledge of basic electronics (resistors, capacitors, inductors, AC, DC, diodes)

·  Knowledge of basic acoustics including absorption, reflection, diffusion, transmission, etc.

 

Lead Technician:

·  Mastery of all Level 3 Technician qualifications plus

·  Connect and troubleshoot high end multi-zone audio/video distribution systems

·  Configure and program touch screen based whole house control systems. Interface to other subsystems including alarm systems, lighting control, HVAC control, entry control, and automation systems

·  Proficient with the Windows operating system

·  Configure Ethernet based wired and wireless networks

·  Setup and program Panasonic phone systems

·  Understanding of various transmission protocols (e.g. baseband video, digital, analog) at a signal level

·  Understanding of basic loudspeaker acoustics including enclosure types, Q-factors, impedance curves, etc.

·  Complete knowledge of current product line

 

 


Team Leader

·  Mastery of all 5 Level  Technician qualifications plus

·  Factory certified/trained for Crestron, Lite -Touch, CEDIA

·  Design/Install high end home theaters and audio/video distribution systems

·  Proficient with several Engineering programs used for CAD& d- tools, proposals, project management, etc.

·  Troubleshoot complex systems without documentation

·  Write complex programs using a combination of Infrared, RS-232, conditional logic, and system feedback
