Category Manager-Fresh Meat

 

Roundy's Supermarkets, Inc., one of the nation's premier grocery retailers, is searching for a Category Manager- Fresh Meat for their home office in Milwaukee, WI. Today, Roundy's Supermarkets is a company of 21,000 employees, approaching $4 billion in annual sales, and undergoing tremendous growth. Company-owned and operated supermarkets include Pick 'n Save stores and Copps Food Centers in Wisconsin and Rainbow Foods in Minnesota.

 

REQUIREMENTS:College Degree required with over 3 years experience or 7-8 years related/practical business experienceExceptional college record required

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Define a 1-5 year Category Vision as it relates to Consumer Needs, Shopping Preferences and Trends 

· Provide greater value to the consumer that competitors can. (as measured by Neilson market share reports where applicable)

· Develop the “go to market” strategy for each category of responsibility. Align this with the timing of the annual planning process

· Have an understanding of the commodity markets and understand future markets.

· Identify, understand and provide a written evaluation (monthly) to the Vice President regarding the competitive marketplace via weekly store competitor and store visits – 4 per written evaluation, with discussion regarding the following elements:

· Product variety

· Fixture presentation

· Commodity Markets & Trends

· Advertising (frequency, medium, price)

· Pricing Strategy

· Signing strategy

· Develop strategies for product assortment and prove versus competition

· Develop Private Label variety strategy in each category related to the primary competitor

· Scorecard vendor performance on a quarterly basis

· Prepare strategic annual planning with first half tactical plan with all suppliers

· First to market for new items and unique items

· Private label: Maximum distribution in Pick-n-Save, Copps & Rainbow were applicable

· Minimum expectations are that the Category Manager is excelling or at minimum showing progress in the following IDP criteria:

o Divergent & Creative Thinking, Problem solving & Decision making, Financial & Quantitative

o Analytics, Planning, Personal organization and Time management, Written communication skills, Presentation skills, Strong negotiating skills, Results driven, Delegating and controlling,

o Occupational knowledge and Technical skills. 

 

WORK SCHEDULE: 55 Hour Work Week, some travel required
