Retail Manager - Ski/Snowboard Shop, Kendall Mountain in Silverton, CO
Ski/Snowboard Shop Manager at Kendall Mountain, a tiny ski area in Silverton, Colorado. We opened just last year and are the only ski shop in Silverton, CO!
We are open 11am - 4pm Friday-Sunday, occasionally open weekdays for private groups with advance notice. We rent and sell skis, snowboards, sleds, snowshoes, skates, cross country skis, clothing, etc.
We are located at the base of Kendall Mountain, a 1-chairlift hill that's great for learning and perfect for after school/work runs for the locals. We sell the lift tickets for Kendall too (only $10-15/day for a lift ticket!). We have lots of used equipment and do season and daily rentals. We don't have much new equipment. Retails sales are mostly of clothing, accessories and some used stuff.
If you want to move to Silverton in order to ski/ride Silverton Mountain - this job might not be a good fit since we are open the same days as Silverton Mountain.
Job responsibilities:
· Managing the shop
· Tuning and testing equipment
· Purchasing inventory
· Merchandising the shop
· Manning the shop during open hours
· Manage approximately 2 additional part-time employees
Optional:
· You will have the opportunity to teach skiing/snowboarding/cross country skiing on a freelance basis
· You may also tune skis/boards on a freelance basis
Note: We do not have any grinding machines - only hand tuning
Required Qualifications:
· Prior ski shop management experience
· Prior ski binding certification (does not have to be current)
· Prior tuning experience (especially hand tuning and waxing)
· Prior retail management experience (especially buying and merchandising)
· Super references required
The job will likely be salaried unless you really prefer to be paid by the hour. Will structure profit sharing, incentives, and benefits to suit your needs. A weekday pass to Durango Mountain Resort/Purgatory (25 miles away) will be included. Telluride 6-10 days also included. If you don't want or need a ski pass, we'll come up with something else for you.
Start no later than October - sooner if available.
