Project Manager

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is one of the nation's leading Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT's), in the business of constructing, developing, redeveloping, acquiring and managing high-quality apartment communities in high barrier-to-entry markets of the United States. These markets are located in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Northern and Southern California regions of the country. We currently own and operate approximately 50,000 apartment homes in the US and employ approximately 2,000 associates. We are currently searching for the right candidate to join our Property Operations Team.

Based in our Alexandria, Virginia Headquarters, this position will support AvalonBay's Executive Operations Team by managing the project plan and implementation of several organizational changes and new process flows impacting the operations of over 170 communities.

This will be accomplished by completing the following responsibilities:
Understanding AvalonBay's current operations, policies and procedures in order to understand the change management impact to the organization
Manage and execute a project plan including the coordination of all resources.
Coordination of multiple timelines for varying initiatives to minimize impact to communities
Gathering requirements from major stakeholders to gain an understanding of challenges and dependencies
Coordinating, tracking and resolving tasks/ deliverables of support groups
Maintain all documents and route deliverables for approval
Assist in writing new policies and procedures
Participate in Steering Committee meetings to ensure timely communication and resolution of issues

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelors degree, 5+ years of direct experience in a consulting, financial, or technical environment, outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written at all levels within the organization), proven analytical skills and the ability to quickly solve problems. In addition, candidates must posses outstanding project management skills, and knowledge of Excel, Word and Project software. Experience in the multi-family industry is highly desirable but not a prerequisite.
