Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to join their Corporate Accounting Department located in Norfolk, Virginia.  Reporting direct to the CFO, the Controller is an integral part of the management team.  This role will be responsible for supervising a large accounting department of 20+ staff in addition to managing their tasks and special projects.  In addition to the criteria below, the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, an innovative mindset and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, especially top management. 

 

Required qualifications:

·  Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field

·  Strong general ledger management skills

·  IT skills (especially ability to implement a new software)

·  Accounting policy & procedure development and implementation

·  Strong supervisory skills

 

Desired qualifications:

·  CPA/CMA

·  Masters degree in Accounting or MBA
