Editor
CTQ Media, a media company dedicated to helping improve business execution, is seeking an editor for two of its online business publications: Sourcingmag.com and BPMEnterprise.com. Successful candidates will have strong editorial skills, demonstrated writing talent, passion for business management topics, familiarity with publishing processes, excellent business acumen and proven leadership ability.
The editor of Sourcingmag.com and BPMEnterprise.com will manage the day-to-day operation of the publications and help guide the properties through a period of growth and expansion. This position will be based out of the editor’s home office in the Seattle area.
Essential Duties Manage content development, including tracking and responding to article submissions, and ensure deadlines are met Maintain routine communications with contributing writers and subject matter experts Maintain a repository of article topic ideas and an article pipeline Establish editorial review panels for each site Edit articles to ensure they are accurate, concise and complete Work with the company art director and/or graphic artists to obtain and prep graphics for articles Load and publish articles using a content management system Compile, load and schedule weekly enewsletters Update news, jobs and events sections of the sites Continually develop and maintain active bloggers for both sites; manage relationships with blog contributors Regularly write, post and edit blogs Monitor discussion forums Forge media partnerships to expand exposure of the sites Grow unique visitors and page views for each site Continuously monitor competitors and industry-related news and events Participate in weekly all-hands calls, an annual company retreat and continuing education opportunities
Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or communications At least five years of editorial experience Experience with web publications Direct experience with planning and scheduling content, writing and editing content, and supervising freelance writers Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and work within deadlines Ability to build strong working relationships both inside and outside the organization, work within a small team, manage oneself and resolve conflicts diplomatically Unquestionable integrity; dependable and responsible work ethic with minimal supervision Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, HTML and some graphic design skills Ability to travel periodically
