Distribution Center Inserter
The Herald-Journal and GoUpstate.com, a New York Times-owned media company in Spartanburg, S.C., seeks a individual for an opening on our local Distribution Center. We're a print/online news outlet that produces a 45,000-circulation daily newspaper and a 5-million monthly page view Internet site. We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits.
This position is responsible for:
Operate machinery in the distribution department
? Inserter Heads
? Joggers
? Stackers
? Mail bases
? Strappers
? Bottom Wrappers
Perform work to provide high quality products
? Verify preprint run dates prior to insertion
? Fill out production paperwork
? Sort and count leads for zoned advance and main runs
Education:
? High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Experience In:
? Working in a team oriented setting operating industrial machinery
Knowledge
? Basic operation and set up of all types of distribution equipment
? Understanding of work flow and processes involved in Distribution functions
? Understanding of all processes associated with preprinted advertising insertion
? Understanding of mail packaging standards
? An understanding customer expectations for packaging and handling commercial jobs
Physical Requirements:
? Stand for long periods
? Move from place to place within the building
? Lift up to 50 lbs. (Infrequently)
? Lift up to 20 lbs. very often
? Carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally
? Push, pull, stoop, kneel, twist at the waist and crouch often
? Communicate with staff and monitor equipment in a safe and efficient manner
? Good vision for safe operation of equipment
This position is highly standardized in the approach to achieving repeatable results. Problem solving skills are limited to operational issues with machinery and quality issues during insert runs.
