 Position Overview

The 3D Artist is primarily responsible for translating comp designs into mechanical art form and building precise, complete and well-marked files that are ready for prepress/printing.  The 3D Artist must be able to work from both computer and hand drawings to create accurate, artistic, photo realistic renderings of conceptual products. This position will work closely with the Designers and Production Directors to execute the design.

 Essential Job FunctionsWorking from concept sketches, draft products in 3D AutoCAD (or equivalent), then drawings are to be rendered in a realistic fashion Collaborate closely with the Creative Directors, Design Managers and other brand teammates to provide 3D designs that have high impact and increase return on creative investmentCommunicate with the client when necessary to ensure a full understanding of the final usage of the final rendering, plus the camera angle(s), lighting direction and style(s), wire frame and final art to be usedAssist with manual production when requiredMaintain up-to-date knowledge with current software, hardware and upgradesCompose, retouch and recreate artwork as needed

 

Basic Job Qualifications:  Skills and Abilities

· Extensive technical understanding as well as sensitivity to the creative approach and process

· Quick grasp of project parameters, brand standards, legal mandatories and schematics

· Great attitude and willingness to work hard; ability to take direction from Creative Team

· Must be accurate to specifications, true to deadlines, helpful in attitude, and resilient in the face of ever-changing client demands

· Responsive and efficient; ability to organize and manage multiple projects to meet quality/brand standards & deadlines

 

Education / Experience / Training

· 3+ years work experience in CAD drafting or related field

· Bachelor’s Degree and/or Certificate of Completion in a Design/Drafting Program or a related field, or equivalent work experience

· Proficient in 3D functions of AutoCAD, VectorWorks (or equivalent)

· Proficient in 3D modeling (pref. consumer packaging) using Modo, Maya (or equivalent)

· Proficient in current CS3 Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Quark X-press, In-Design

· Working knowledge of layout principles, aesthetic design concepts, branding, typography and color theory

· Professional photography experience, specifically angles & lighting, is a plus
