Senior Systems Administrator
Description:Foundation Information Technology (IT) is responsible for evolving and executing the foundation's strategy for information technology systems in accordance with the organization’s business requirements. This includes planning, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating cost-efficient enterprise systems that support both distributed and centralized grant management and business operations. IT also supports foundation programs directly, consulting on the execution of grants that include IT components.
The Sr. System Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and daily operation of the Foundation’s servers including Active Directory, Microsoft Operations Manager, Microsoft System Center suite, SQL servers, and Exchange servers, as well as the foundations Storage Area Networks and other server environments. The Sr. System Administrator is also responsible for supporting projects and resolution of Level 3 service tickets.
• Design, implementation, daily operation & administration, anti-virus, maintenance, backup, security, and troubleshooting of all Windows servers, SQL servers, Exchange servers, and the EMC storage area network.• Continuously improve service: cost, quality, and performance.• Strategy development for areas of responsibilities.• Support resolution of Level 3 service tickets, as needed in a timely manner.• Provide project support in the timely completion of Network Services projects, milestone dates, commitments, deliverables, etc.• Provide hands-on configuration, installation, maintenance, and backup of all servers and system data.• Provide technical leadership as related to all Windows Servers and storage environments.• Provide technical oversight to Foundation vendors and consultants, as needed.• Assist in the development of Information Technology policies and procedures.• Adhere to Information Technology policies and procedures.• On-call duty on a rotational basis.Qualifications:• Bachelors degree in computer science, related filed or equivalent experience required.• At least 7 years of relevant IT experience in enterprise systems administration and design.• MCSE or equivalent experience required.• Extensive knowledge of Windows server, SQL, Exchange, and Microsoft’s suite of enterprise operations management tools, services, and servers.• The ability to work on, facilitate, and support multiple projects and real-time support issues.• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems.• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications.• Strong, interpersonal and customer relationship skills with an emphasis on process improvement.As part of our standard hiring process for new employees, employment with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background check.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceJob Location: Seattle, WAJob Number: RUSAGFN248-616563Company URL: http://www.gatesfoundation.orgCompany Profile:Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives.
