Network Administrator
SUMMARY:
Under general direction the Network Administrator designs, supports, maintains, and evaluates computer networking systems; installs, configures, and maintains computer servers; maintains and monitors network infrastructure routers, switches, VPN connections and firewalls; performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES: Monitors and administers the network, keeping system information up-to-date in network logs. Documents all network systems, assists in preparation & management of disaster recovery plans. Act as back up to support staff as required and assigned. Manages usage of the network, network printing and network technical resources Assists in the planning and development of computer operations policies and procedures Adjusts hours of work, priorities, and staff assignments to ensure efficient operations. Remains abreast of changes in user and system software and hardware requirements. Establishes and maintains network users, user environments, directories and securities Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs. Attends meetings conferences & workshops as assigned, performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: AA Degree in Computer Science, Data Processing or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience. Certifications (MCP, CNE, MCSE, CNA, CCNA) a plus Strong knowledge of Microsoft 2003 server administration including Active Directory, and Exchange 2003. Working knowledge of IP based enterprise networks: Cisco routers and switches, Fortinet Routers/Firewalls, VPNs and VoIP. SQL, IIS and .Net experience desired but not required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex computer manuals, periodicals, and technical journals. Ability to make formal and informal presentations for user training and system management. Good problem solving skills enabling the individual to diagnose hardware and software problems. Problem solving ability should be such that over time the individual would be capable of developing and maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule to eliminate recurring problems. Must have access to reliable transportation; posses valid drivers license and have adequate auto liability insurance and be able to travel & work irregular hours to accommodate system failures and system upgrades. Additionally desired training or experience areas: MS Exchange Administration, Database (SQL) Server Administration, Database knowledge to the operational level, Applications integration & user support.
