The Opportunity:
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting all aspects of HR related functions including recruitment and selection, communicating policies and procedures, conducting new hire orientations, and completing surveys, benchmark activities and recordkeeping. Specific responsibilities to include conducting recruitment and selection for all WARF and WARF affiliate personnel; conducting new employee orientations, exit interviews, and processing employee changes; assisting with payroll processing and processing required documents through payroll and insurance providers; maintaining compensation plans, processing compensation changes, and conducting salary surveys. In addition the HR Generalist will be responsible for maintaining WARF’s affirmative action program and filing required reports; assisting with the development and maintenance of personnel policies and the employee handbook; managing the employee database, organizational charts and employee directory; coordinating the student intern program; and indentifying and complying with legal requirements and government reporting regulations.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate must be committed to WARF's mission to support world-class research at the University of Wisconsin and bring innovative ideas to market to benefit humankind. Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience (PHR certification preferred) and a minimum of two years experience with human resources functions (recruiting experience preferred). The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of HR principles and government reporting requirements; knowledge of Microsoft office products and a familiarity with payroll systems; excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal and coaching skills; the ability to research and analyze various types of data information; is able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization; can maintain a high level of confidentiality; and is able to prioritize and handle multiple assignments under general direction.
