Global Marketing Research Specialist
The Human Resource Certification Institute is an independent, internationally recognized certifying body for the HR profession. Established in 1976, HRCI awards certifications to professionals who meet minimum eligibility standards and pass a rigorous examination. HRCI testing requires professionals to demonstrate their expertise in both the underlying principles of HR practice and the real-world application of those principles. To remain certified, individuals must fulfill continuing education requirements or demonstrate their current knowledge of the profession through periodic retesting.

Responsible for overseeing all market research conducted by the HR Certification Institute. The market research to be conducted will include, but will not be limited to, global market research, trends analysis on our certificant population, longitudinal research on the value of our certifications, as well as survey research and focus groups. Both quantitative and qualitative research will be produced enabling the HR Certification Institute leadership team to make decisions about how to target global marketing campaigns, and position and price a new universal certification program. This position will be responsible for designing, collecting, analyzing, and disseminating the market research. The incumbent will also be involved in managing internal and external relationships including SHRM, vendors, volunteers, and certificants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Designs, collects, analyzes, and disseminates market research that will help improve global marketing effectiveness, assist in the development of a new universal certification program, and measure the Institute’s return on its marketing investment.
Responsible for designing and fielding surveys (such as the post-exam survey) as well as focus groups, individual interviews, and other modes of data collection to ensure that actionable data is collected and used to develop valuable market research for the Institute.
Responsible for data mining HR Certification Institute certificant data to assist with target marketing our certification programs both within the US and globally.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research in support of efforts to measure brand equity/image of the Institute as well as the longitudinal value of our certifications. The research may include focus groups and/or individual interviews and surveys. Assist with all qualitative analysis of focus group, interview and survey research by conducting content analyses of verbatim responses and focus group/interview transcripts.
Manage vendor relationship should it be deemed necessary to utilize outside vendor expertise.
Track and maintain competitive intelligence information as it relates to HR certification and certificate programs both within the US and globally.
As appropriate work with SHRM staff to collaborate on market research activities that are of benefit to both organizations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Psychology, or Mathematics preferably with an emphasis or minor in: Market Research, Consumer Research, Statistics, Social Research, Survey Research or a related discipline. Master’s Degree in Market Research, Survey Research, Statistics or a comparable field would be desirable.
· A minimum of 5-7 years overall experience with at least 4-5 years experience in a setting that conducts quantitative and qualitative research of consumers, customers, and/or business persons.
· International work experience or education preferred.
· Knowledge of the certification industry is preferred but not required.
· Knowledge of the human resource profession a plus.
· Strong experience with research methodology, instrument design for data collection, and statistics is required. Experience with SPSS Base and advanced statistical modules of SPSS (including logistic regression, multiple linear regression, MANOVA, Trends and Forecasting, and AMOS) and familiarity with online survey tools is required (experience using Sawtooth and/or Perseus/Websurveyer desirable). Experience writing SPSS script is also desirable, but not required.
· Strong writing, oral communication and customer service skills are required. Excellent attention to detail and self-editing skills are essential.
· Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of internal staff.
· Qualified candidates will possess a strong ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities, work independently and in a team environment with minimal- to moderate-level supervision. Requires considerable judgment and problem solving abilities.
· Requires knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, the Internet and on-line database searching.
· Experience working with professional staff to resolve organizational problems, provide organizational solutions, and/or to apply research to make business decisions.
