Foundation - Director, Corporate and Business Giving
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s only licensed children’s hospital, providing world-classcare in more than 40 pediatric specialties to our state’s sickest kids. Though Phoenix Children’s isone of the 10 largest freestanding children’s hospitals in the country, rapid population growth inArizona means the Hospital must grow as well. Phoenix Children’s recently announced a $588million expansion plan to bring its special brand of family-centered care to even more patients andfamilies. The plan includes a significant upgrade of the Hospital's current campus, an aggressivephysician recruitment effort, and new satellite centers in high growth areas of the Valley. For moreinformation, visit the Hospital’s Web site at www.phoenixchildrens.com PRIMARY PURPOSE: The director of corporate/business giving is responsible for securing funding from corporate and business entities to support the many initiatives of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and also oversees the fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network efforts throughout Phoenix Children’s Hospital. This position reports to the vice president of annual giving. It is expected that the director of corporate/business giving will have a strong background in philanthropy and strategic planning, coupled with a keen interest in and appreciation for the values and mission of Phoenix children’s Hospital and Foundation. CBMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five to ten years minimum direct fundraising experience in a non-profit organization (preferably healthcare) or equivalent experience. Proven track record in donor cultivation and solicitation of gifts greater than $25,000. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Strong communication skills: written, oral, and listening. Strong planning and organizational skills, including ability to manage multiple relationships to the point of and through solicitation Affinity with the overall mission of Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Personal characteristics associated with successful development professionals, including a vigorous work ethic, sound judgment, impeccable integrity, demonstrated initiative, appropriate professional appearance, and attitude and personality to work effectively with colleagues, Phoenix Children’s Hospital physicians and caregivers, senior hospital leadership, volunteers, and constituents. Prospective/Donor Base1. Working understanding of external prospect/donor base.2. Appreciation for stakeholder expectations, desires, and needs.3. Ability to adapt cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship programs for appropriate groups and key individuals.4. Ability to position close personal solicitations of corporate/business gifts of $25,000 and higher.Fundraising Basics 1. Appreciation for the fundraising cycle: identifications, qualifications, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship 2. Active involvement in development processes including donor/prospect tracking and management as documented on the Raiser’s Edge software system. 3.
