Curator
Project HOPE, an international health education non-profit based in the United States is seeking a Curator to oversee all logistical aspects surrounding the exhibits of children’s art. This consulting opportunity will be supporting the Children's Art Initiative program on an as needed basis until January 2009.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:
Initial planning:
•Coordinate with HOPE staff on exhibit schedule, and items to be included in the exhibit (display panels and collateral materials)
•Coordinate with HOPE staff on insurance
•Manage transport of the art from the HOPE storage facility in Winchester to the various exhibit venues
•Coordinate in advance with contact at each venue on the space plan, delivery schedule, installation plan (i.e. hanging, easels and hardware needed)
•Coordinate with transport company and warehouse or loading dock staff at each venue
•Coordinate storage of crates & packing materials
At each venue, the curator will:
•Meet the shipment & account for inventory
•Manage the unpacking
•Damage check
•Manage the installation process
•Assist the Point of Contact with opening reception preparations
•Manage the sale of the art
At the end of each exhibition, the curator should:
•Damage check
•Account for inventory
•Manage re-packing
•Coordinate with warehouse or loading dock staff and transport company to manage pick-up
This position will be based from Project HOPE headquarters in Millwood, VA, but will require travel to art exhibits.To be considered, applicants must be eligible to live and work in the United States.
