Communication Specialist - Web Content and EMarketing
The Cooper Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization dedicated to scientific research in the field of preventive medicine and public health is currently seeking a Marketing Communication Specialist to support The Institute’s external market presence by managing, expanding, developing, and maintaining The Cooper Institute’s web services and providing communication support to the Education Department. The Communication Specialist will apply written and technical skills and administrative knowledge to the solution of problems in the operation, maintenance and expansion of web services, CI’s marketing and information technology. Develop and maintain content for CI’s website. Create and design new pages, update existing pages including flash animation if appropriate. Ensure content is up-to-date, and is presented in clear and usable manner. Coordinates with project managers and management to maintain site standards and structure. Analyzing and reporting visitor statistics and behavior. Suggest and implements strategies to increase traffic. Manages search engine optimization efforts. Generate regular content for “news and events” including press releases. Release to the media. Coordinate inquiries. Write email blasts and newsletters. Schedule email blasts. Manage contacts/database. Writes, edits, and proofs articles for placement in magazines, blogs or newsletters. Provide input to Marketing Director and Graphic Designer for internet banner advertising. Prepare and report banner advertising statistics on a monthly basis. Assist with event coordination as needed. Daily monitoring of site to ensure proper functions including monitoring firewall logs. Works with network, eLearning and content management personnel on issues that affect the website. Manages audio-visual equipment including projectors and remote controls. Periodically assists IT in deploying desktop and laptop hardware. As needed, helps installs new software on computers. Assist with training users on software and equipment usage. Prepares purchasing documents as needed. Provides input in the budgeting process regarding needs for computer hardware and software. Other duties as assigned.
Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office, HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe Contribute CS3, and Flash. Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and tools is a must. Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
