Communication Skills Trainer
Description
Woods, a private, nonprofit organization, provides a broad range of human services to people with special needs and challenges. The primary goal is to maximize each individual’s potential while ensuring a high quality of life for everyone served. Within this context, Woods helps individuals acquire and develop new skills that will help them lead full and rewarding lives.
Implements and monitors treatment programs in designated autistic clients' residences and classes. Provides training to residential staff by example, consultation, and instructions. Conducts monthly monitoring of implementation of treatment programs by staff and annual screenings of clients' communication skills. Consults regularly with the Senior Speech Therapist, Residential Manager, Program Specialists, and communication goals in the individualized programs for the designated clients. Also, consults regularly with the Residential Manager regarding the implementation of communication programs in the residences. Completes all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology, education, or one of the social sciences and one-year experience working with children. Knowledge of child development and speech-language development, basic physiology, and an understanding of treatment plans and objectives. Knowledge of augmentative communication devices a plus.
