Benefits Programs Manager

This position is responsible for managing assigned HR programs with emphasis on the benefits area, ensuring that the organization is in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  In addition, this position works closely with the HR Manager in identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating HR policies, programs, functions and activities designed to attract and retain employees.  This position also has responsibility for serving as the coordinator for key HR metrics development and analysis.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Managing all aspects of the employee benefits program and timekeeping services for the SAE Global Enterprise, which includes but is not limited to:

o  Facilitating the negotiation of program changes/contracts with carrier underwriters and independent consultants on an annual basis; developing and overseeing annual Open Enrollment and employee benefits communications/meetings; and assessing/identifying new benefits programs on an ongoing basis as required

o  Managing a defined benefit program as well as a defined contribution program that includes overseeing the annual audit of the defined contribution plans, processing pension calculations as requested, monitoring and ensuring that employees do not exceed annual IRS deferral limits, submitting data required for plan testing, preparing and reporting to the Trustees of the Retirement Income Plan annually

o  Managing SAE’s Leave of Absence Program which includes assessing requests for leave, maintaining confidential medical records and DOL tracking mechanism, counseling staff and management with respect to FMLA and SAE policy, and performing supervisor training classes on FMLA and Workers’ Compensation as needed

o  Developing and managing the annual benefits budget, quarterly variances, and final projections utilizing current benefits and employee trends, and providing accurate data to Financial Services by established deadlines

o  Supervising the Benefits Administrator; developing performance plans, and monitoring workload 

o  Acting as liaison between benefits and payroll

§ Assisting the HR Manager in identifying developing, implementing, and evaluating HR policies, programs, functions and activities

§ Developing and analyzing special reports related to key HR metrics in order to monitor the development or success of programs and services

§ Contributing to the achievement of SAE's organizational goals

§ Additional projects as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

§ Bachelors degree in HR or related field and at least five years of professional HR exp with progressive benefits function/program exp and/or formal certification in the employee benefits field, required

§ At least 2 years program management experience, required

§ Supervisory experience, desired

§ Budget experience, required

§ Global HR experience, preferred

§ Experience managing volunteer committees, preferred

§ PHR Certification, preferred

§ Excellent customer service and employee relations skills, along with excellent communication skills

§ Ability to secure the confidence and respect of the SAE global enterprise (internal and external)

§ Strong program management, analytical, and problem solving skills

§ Exceptional organizational and prioritizing skills

§ Good supervisory and coaching skills

§ Ability to maintain highly confidential information at all times

§ Strong understanding of HR office operations and working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, policies, and procedures with special focus on benefits (i.e., ERISA/IRS/DOL laws and regulations)

§ Strong computer skills and proficiency in working with Excel required

§ Ability to travel 10% as required
