Transportation Freight Analyst

Job Purpose:

Review, process, and record into Sales Management System all transportation invoices.  Assist in departmental functions as necessary defined by management.

 

Duties:

* Monitor all transportation websites daily for newly issued invoices.

* Review transportation invoices for accuracy, submit for payment approval on a time schedule consistent with Invoice Due dates.   

* Maintain accurate records of invoices processed and invoices outstanding.

* Prepare, distribute and mail correspondence with carriers regarding discrepancies with invoices to achieve a satisfactory resolution in a timely manner.

* Provide backup for Traffic Department staff members during absences.

* Assist in providing information and research as defined by Management for Sales Administration Staff, Sales Staff, and Field Operations.

* Assist other Traffic Department staff members in departmental functions to ensure all processes are handled on a timely basis.

* Assist in Departmental filing and other duties as needed.Skills/Qualifications:

* High School Graduate with some college level business, accounting and transportation courses preferred.

* Minimum of two years in a business environment.

* Transportation and/or coal industry in general is a plus.

* Proficiency with computers and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* General knowledge of transportation terminology.

* General knowledge of accounting.

* Strong organizational as well as good interpersonal and communication skills. 

* This position requires overtime work as necessary to complete daily key results areas, during month-end closing cycles, and at other critical periods as designated by Management.

* This position requires interaction with other department staff members, field operations and customers as designated by Management during all business hours.

* Available to work flexible hours.  Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Occasional overtime required as delegated by projects and workload.
