Purpose:

  To manage the purchasing/procurement activities for different Umicore plants in North America.  You will report hierarchically to Umicore’s Global General Manager-Procurement.

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 Represent Umicore North America in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers (including energy, chemicals, and construction contracting).Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.Coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and determine product availability and terms of sales.Review purchase orders and contracts for conformance to company policy.Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.Manage the integration with the Business Units by harmonizing the purchasing/procurement strategy with their strategies.  Assure early involvement in the development of new materials and products by participating in the international network of the concerned units and departments.Develop market research for important product/service portfolios and share your knowledge with the concerned Business Units.The current spend level is approximately $50 million.

Required Experience:

 Energy, chemicals, and construction contractingForeign trade

 Required Profiles:

 Bachelor’s degree with a commercial or technical orientation.Sound knowledge of purchasing/procurement and supply chain processes and techniques.Minimum of 5 years purchasing/procurement management experience, including energy and chemicals contracting.Excellent communication skills (with (internal) customers and with supplier) and negotiation skills.Unbiased; must respect and ensure respect of highest ethical standards.Highly committed to results and objectives set.Sensitive to sustainable development.Willing to travel frequently, mainly within North America but also internationally.Computer literate (MS Office Tools, SAP).



Salary Range: $90-$100K
