Traveling Clinical Engineer
Our client designs, develops, manufactures, and distributes a full range of spinal fixation products. They market products through a national network of independent distributors. The philosophy is to develop systems with fewer parts and fewer steps to benefit both surgeons as well as patients. Our client is seeking a qualified candidate who will be responsible for assisting in all product development including applying surgeon’s ideas in the design, development, and manufacturing of spinal implant devices. Responsibilities include: project and technical direction in the development of devices to ensure a timely project completion; clearly defining project requirements to accomplish project goals; interfacing with cross-functional project teams from within and outside the organization and doing whatever it takes to complete the project; helping establish marketing efforts if required; creating various network leads for the organization such as key surgeon champions; traveling from home locations to one or more new surgeon sites a week and updating the current state of the site to the engineering team as well as bi-monthly trips to update product development engineers and receive orders for future trips. Successful candidates must have these minimum capabilities to be considered for this position: MS Degree in Biomedical or Biomechanical Engineering; 1 to 3 years of product development experience related to the design, development, and manufacture of medical implants and instruments; experience with 3D CAD, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and Finite Element Analysis; project management and documentation with design controls, risk analysis, etc.; established track record of launching new medical device products on time; knowledge in highly regulated, precision manufacturing environments, and FDA regulatory agencies a plus; 50% travel required.
