Reference Code: IRC154381 Sr. Technician - R&D Support chemical and materials engineering laboratory operations, including providing daily laboratory management such as managing general laboratory supplies (e.g. glassware, disposables, common chemicals, equipment, etc.), conduct routine equipment and laboratory maintenance, scheduling laboratory resources to support technical staff program needs, and overseeing laboratory cleaning and safety requirements.  Work with diverse technical staff to setup and conduct experiments following written or verbal instructions or graphic descriptions.  Provide technical training and troubleshooting to support technical staff.  Demonstrate a level of autonomy in decision making and work planning.  Apply knowledge and skills of chemical, materials, and software tools. 2 year technical degree (or 4-year non-technical degree) with six or more years of technical experience High school diploma or equivalent with ten plus years of technical experience. Experience with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficient with chemical and analytical equipment in a research laboratory environment. Other Qualifications   Use of hand tools and mechanical fabrication equipment. Good organizational skills. Good verbal and written English skills. Flexibility with working hours. Ability to work effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service oriented attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.  Working knowledge of typical chemical analytical techniques, such as, but not limited to FTIR, GPC, HPLC, and spectrographic or spectrophotometric methods. Working knowledge of typical materials characterization techniques, such as, but not limited to rheology, surface tension, thermal properties, mechanical properties, and microscopy. Broad base of experience in the development and testing of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical, optical, and fluidic systems in the medical device industry.
