Position Description:
BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENTManages all areas of the Quality department, ensuring that the quality/control program is carried out in accordance with established US Marine standards. Responsible for adherence and consistency to all marine industry and internal boat quality construction standards.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Participates in Management Review of the current Quality System.• Oversees implementation of the quality inspection process.• Establishes quality standards for new product during the new model integration process.• Performs internal audits and addresses non-conformities in the quality inspection system.• Facilitates and participates in the Root Cause Corrective Action Team to follow up and close preventative and corrective action requests. • Uses statistical methods and data analysis to study and decrease variations in product quality.• Establishes and oversees a quality control calibration and testing program. • Ensures that production-specific educational training programs are implemented.• Ensures boats meet NMMA, Coast Guard, and regulatory requirements.• Performs supervisory functions for staff including maintaining attendance records, performance appraisals, corrective coaching and career development. Supervises and trains quality technicians. Keeps staff updated on changing criteria, processes, and other information.• Provides plant-wide training in areas such as quality control/measurement techniques and processes, formal corrective action, leadership, 5-S.• Provides reports to management.• Communicates and interfaces with dealers and customers.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. A combination of education and industry-specific experience may be substituted.REQUIREMENTS• 5 years of progressive work experience in Quality Assurance supervision, with a demonstrated track record of customer satisfaction and accomplishments.• Formal training in Six Sigma or statistical based analysis, process auditing, and ISO principles. • ASQ certification, working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, FMEA analysis, and Kaizan or Accelerated Improvement Workshop techniques a plus. • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and superior organizational abilities. • Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines and work in a team environment.• Must be familiar with and understand the Safety Management 20 Element System.• PC literate, with demonstrated knowledge of MS Office products. Previous experience with Lotus Notes or equivalent, and web-based applications is preferred.
