Marketing and Sales Assistant
Derecktor Shipyards is known worldwide for producing more than two hundred and fifty high quality aluminum yachts and commercial vessels. With locations in NY, FL and CT, Derecktor effectively covers the most trafficked areas of the eastern seaboard. With a rich history of boatbuilding since 1947, Derecktor Shipyards today offers new construction of luxury yachts and commercial vessels as well as full service repair and re-fit capabilities. Derecktor is known for building technically demanding vessels, ranging from America’s Cup winners to large high-speed ferries. Current projects include construction of a 44 meter (145 feet) catamaran, expected to be the world’s largest sailing cat upon its completion and an 85.6 meter (279 feet) motor yacht, the largest yacht built in the US in over 75 years.
MARKETING AND SALES ASSISTANT
SUMMARY
Duties include project based work, research, and administrative work. The Marketing and Sales Assistant should project a professional company image in-person and in-phone interaction. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinate with marketing, sales, and other groups to facilitate marketing
functions (i.e. brochures, trade shows, etc.)
· Provide status reports to management on overall marketing activities
· Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing,
mailing, and filing, maintaining hard copy and electronic filing systems.
· Support staff in assigned project based work, including but not limited to:
o Develop and coordinate Trade Show and Events
o Hands on work involving the preparation of display and marketing media: design, edit, proofread, print,
package media and equipment, ship, track, travel to/from location, coordinate team & travel, assemble and
put final touches. Coordinate daily event schedule.
o Setup and coordinate meetings and trade shows. Coordinates employee travel (air/land, lodging, etc.) to and
from marketing related conventions and conferences.
o Assists in the development of promotional strategies and product development.
o Prepare Event Agenda, Invitations
o Develop media placement and Public Relations
o Serves as liaison between the company and advertising agencies, freelance talent, print suppliers, and other
marketing services.
o Prepare Press Releases and Event Announcements.
o Update Company website.
o Generate form letters for mass brochure mailings to prospective customers, including thank you letters
o Validate and fulfill Request for Marketing Information. Track requests & mailings.
o Manage and track the expenses for each event. Ensure budget is managed properly.
o Responsible for Media & Marketing Event Budgets.
o Arrange preparatory meetings for Seminar Events and Trade Shows.
o Coordinate Catered Events and travel arrangements for Customer Visits
o Manage customer database system which includes database data entry
oCoordinate email campaigns for new promotions
o Update web site content which includes coordinating with internal resources when new web initiatives are
launched and gathering all collateral from internal resources.
o Complete marketing-related mailings.
o Produce and maintain external media communications
o Coordination of development of marketing pieces for print and internet
o Help with preparation of sales proposals
o Setup accommodation and entertainment arrangements for company visitors.
o Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing
priorities and meeting deadlines.
· In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications
With excellent organization & communication skills, an eye for detail. Self-motivated, comfortable working independently, with the ability to work within tight deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. Experience with Imaging Software (Corel Draw, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) for screen capturing is helpful.
