Marine Port Engineer
MARINE PORT ENGINEER
Eckstein Marine Services (EMS), Harahan, Louisiana, is a full service marine towing company consisting of a diversified fleet of 43 inland towing vessels ranging from 1250 to 3300 horsepower. This division is growing rapidly and will have over 50 vessels by 2009. EMS operates the entire US inland waterway system with special emphasis on the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway. EMS is a division of Marquette Transportation, a Paducah, Kentucky based provider of transportation services in the Mississippi River system, Gulf Intercoastal waterways, and Gulf of Mexico. In aggregate, the Marquette fleet totals over 115 tow and tug boats that span a wide horsepower range.We currently have a position available in the New Orleans Area a Marine Port Engineer.
Responsibilities:
· Supervising maintenance and repairs to under water equipment (such as shaft, props, etc) aboard vessels.
· Troubleshoot pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
· Supervise repairs to vessels on dry dock.
· Travel to various Shipyards between New Orleans and Houston in company provided work truck.
· Currently 4-week rotation for primary on-call duty, with Friday after primary on-call week off.
· Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
· Perform other duties and activities as directed.
Qualifications:
· 5-10 years experience
· Prefer experience with Caterpillar, EMD, and Cummins engines.
· Experience with Twin Disc and Reintjes gears also a plus.
· Excellent driving record required.
· Ability to travel
· Pre-employment Physical and Drug Screen are mandatory.
