About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Sales for the Northeastern US whose responsibility is to build a highly effective sales team capable of addressing the multi-channel distribution needs of the company.
Responsibilities
Develops and implements strategic sales plans to meet or exceed annual sales budgets.
Manage sales and expenses to meet or exceed annual profit plan.
Analyzes market to determine customer needs, price schedules and discount rates.
Communicate and be visible within the global sales team.
Directs staffing, training, recruiting and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs.
Assigns sales territory to sales representatives.
Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing territories, quotas and goals.
Directs sale forecasting within region and sets performance goals accordingly.
Analyzes and controls expenditures within designated region to conform to budgetary requirements.
Provide market and customer information and feedback to the rest of the company.
Originates and delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with senior account managers and regional sales representatives.
Maintains relationships with key accounts and assists sales representatives with negotiations and closings.
Review contractual agreements for all sales channels including OEM, Dealer and Distributor channels.
Generate new revenue through identifying and visiting key target accounts with Regional Sales Managers.
Perform such other duties from time to time as may be required by the company’s senior management.
Interpersonal Contacts
Has regular contact with others both inside and outside the organization. The most common internal contacts are with staff and VP of Sales. The most frequent external contacts are with the Regional Sales Managers, Regional Retail Sales Representatives, OEM’s, Dealers, Distributors and Retailers. In addition, extensive contact with end consumers at various national and regional trade/boat shows.
Specific Job SkillsAbility to lead the field sales team.Excellent communication skills (including listening, writing, speaking).Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; demonstrates group presentation skills.Ability to perform math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, percentages, margins).Ability to understand their own management style and how it may or may not work with other peoples' style and needs.Ability to gather and analyze market information and feedback recommendations to VP of Sales.Extensive knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.Write, update and communicate sales plans for territories/channels.Ability to respond to management's direction; keep commitments.Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes and motivate others to do the same.Prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; set goals and objectives; develop realistic action plans.Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time.Willingness to travel 40% to 60%.
