Technical Supervisor A20 - 2ND SHIFT
Position reports to: General Supervisor
MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for the supervision of a group of skilled welders and setup welders in the manufacturing of components for mining machinery.
JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Assign jobs daily to all employees, working with production control department to manufacture jobs required in sequence to maintain the production schedule.
2. Motivate employees to work at an incentive pace to maintain incentive earnings of 125% or better by extensive planning and thorough instructions to reduce wage guarantee, decrease cost of the product, and ensure maximum earnings for the company.
3. Enforce safety rules and regulations by frequent safety talks and use of the S.T.O.P. program, daily audits of assigned area to detect and correct safety hazards, and attend safety meetings conducted by plant safety director to prevent injuries and reduce lost time accidents to provide a safe working environment.
4. Plan sequence and timing of production operations by developing floor plans for maximum utilization of space and to help reduce wage guarantee to an acceptable level to the budget estimates.
5. Audit each employee's labor tickets and clock cards, review incentive rates with industrial engineering, and audit overtime and absentee records with timekeeping in order to substantiate accurate record keeping and reduce direct on indirect costs.
6. Assist superiors and engineering department in developing new manufacturing methods and procedures, and design changes to save time, reduce costs, and provide a better quality product for our customers.

Supervisors must be able to recognize the potential in their employees and encourage them to expand their knowledge in their job, also give them more responsibility to help the employee achieve a higher position within the organization.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to interpret structural and machining blueprints, knowledge of fabrication drawings and tolerances, must have thorough knowledge of the various types of welding methods and procedures and be familiar with all types of structural steel. Must also be familiar with incentive systems, production requirements, planning and quality requirements. Would desire someone with a BS in Weld Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering with a weld background, or Mechanical Engineering with weld experience. Prefer candidate to have at least 3 to 5 years of practical weld application - emphasis on flux core welding. LEAN MANUFACTURING necessary.
