Manufacturing/Production/Operations Relevant Work Experience: 7+ to 10 Years Career Level: Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Contact Information Reference Code: 2155 Job Description Process Manager - Machining Corporate Overview Pentair is a diversified operating company headquartered in Minnesota.  The Pentair Water Group is a global leader in providing innovative products and systems used worldwide in the movement, treatment, storage and enjoyment of water.  With 2007 revenues of ~$3.5 billion and a high performer in its peer group of industrial companies.  Pentair has approximately 16,000 employees worldwide.  Please visit our corporate website for more information: www.pentair.com     Business Overview The Flow Technologies Division of Pentair is a leading global provider of water related products with sales in excess of $1B globally, serving a $30 billion worldwide market, including the Industrial, Commercial, Municipal, and Residential market segments.     Major Areas of Accountability Provide overall leadership and direction for the Machine and Molding departments.  Lead continuous improvement efforts in safety, quality, throughput, scrap reduction, delivery, operating costs, and set-up times.  Manage the line leads, manufacturing engineer, and machine shop employees to exceed customer expectations.  Develop a machining and molding department vision and implementation plan.  Insure components are delivered to assembly lines to meet the specified delivery dates of customer orders.  Minimize inventory within the departments..    Vision – The machining department will produce the right casting with minimal inventory as consumed by the assembly lines.  The shop will be well organized with the five “S” disciplines a part of every day life.  Set-ups will be targeted to be single minute.  Raw materials will enter a work cell and leave the cell a completed part ready for assembly.  Operating costs and scrap will be reduced through employee involvement. Minimum inventory is to be in-house and inventory to be 99% accurate.  Raw material inventory, work in process inventory, and finished goods inventory will be minimized by implementing cellular technology, small run sizes, and pull systems. Replenishment systems (with Kanbans) will schedule the machine shop.  Every employee will have responsibility for machined component quality.    Key Responsibilities Manage all machining and molding department efforts to reduce operating costs, set-up times, and inventories and improve quality simultaneously. Maintain on time machined component delivery of zero stock outs to assembly lines Manage labor utilization and operate the department within budget Able to understand, communicate and teach lean manufacturing strategies and replenishment systems Facilitate teamwork and continuous improvement within the machine shop.  Maintain effective employee relation and establish effective communications resulting in high employee morale and a union free workplace Reduce machining department generated quality issues and develop corrective actions to eliminate issue root cause.     Minimum Qualifications Required BA or BS in engineering or business 8 or more years of manufacturing, supervisory and machining experience Strong history in Lean manufacturing with a demonstrated willingness to maintain “state of the art” knowledge through continuous learning. Demonstrated leadership and management abilities Strong written and verbal skills and computer literacy Ability to analyze problems, opportunities and situations and apply sound ethical judgment in a timely manner.
