The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking an Associate Director, Gala for the Houston Market. This exciting opportunity is available for an individual to join a nationwide organization with a Mission that affects the lives of 17.9 million Americans who have diabetes and another 40 million who are at risk for developing the disease. We are looking for a high-energy, passionate and disciplined leader. The primary responsibilities include direct coordination of the Houston Wine Auction Gala held in May of each year. Necessary skills include recruitment of corporate sponsorship, upper level social volunteer recruitment and organization. Ability to conduct training and orientation of volunteers, giving technical advice and guidance as needed. Develop public awareness of the American Diabetes Association's mission, goals and objectives. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and implementing a key fund raising activity at the Houston community level and serve as a member of a larger team working with common goals. Cold-call sales experience and customer relationship building experiences are highly desirable. Strong presentation skills, oral and written are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes. Must pay close attention to details and be able to manage multiple activities. Additionally, this position staff's the ADA's Baytown Board of Director's and assists with its January Gala event.
* Bachelor's degree required* Three to five years successful track record of managing and coaching a team to success * Demonstrated sales/fundraising experience strongly preferred * Demonstrated volunteer coaching experience required * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (donor contact database knowledge a plus) * Access to a car as frequent local travel throughout the market is required * Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends * Ability to lift 25 pounds
