 1.  Job Summary

The Project Manager is a highly self-motivated individual whose responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of project planning, monitoring, and controlling processes

· Overseeing all aspects of the engineering project using planning, monitoring and controlling processes

· Communicating progress and issues to applicable stakeholders

· Generating engineering cost estimates and maintaining project budgets

· Setting deadlines, assigning project tasks, and motivating the design team to successfully execute the project

· Monitoring, summarizing, and communicating progress of the project throughout the development cycle to ensure a high level of coordination and successful project completion

· Interacting with customers to discuss project activities and address technical or project concerns

 

The Project Manager is expected to:

· Perform all work activities in a manner that promotes integrity and trust

· Contribute to and maintain a respectful and collaborative work environment

· Be a contributing member of the engineering team

 

The Project Manager may be responsible for more than one project at a time.2.  Job Responsibilities2.1  Project Planning and Execution

· Develop, document, and maintain project plans that:

o  can be clearly understood by engineering team and other applicable resources

o  can be executed to accomplish project technical goals and produce the required products within established time and cost constraints

o  are consistent with the company's Design Control Procedure and other applicable Quality System procedures/processes

o  are maintainable

· When necessary, assume previously established project plans and execute to the internal and/or customer expectations reflected in plan

· Participate in proposal generation as requested

· Work directly with the team members and the Engineering Manager to estimate effort, plan activities and achieve understanding and agreement with individual team members on their appointed tasks

· Collaborate with Engineering Manager to use judgment of individual strengths and workload to establish project teams and allocate project assignments

· Establish or participate in the establishment of project non-recurring engineering (NRE) budgets

· Identify impacts to NRE budgets and present impact assessments to senior management for budget adjustments

· Track project actuals with respect to baseline or adjusted NRE budgets; generate estimate-to-complete (ETC) and estimate-at-completion (EAC) reports on predetermined periodic basis

· Continuously monitor project progress relative to technical, schedule, and cost performance to maintain current project status

· Communicate project progress and issues to applicable stakeholders (i.e., Engineering Manager, Customer, Purchasing, Production)

· Anticipate deviations from a plan or schedule as early as possible and keep all participants and stakeholders informed

· Identify, log, assess, and manage issues and risks with respect to schedule, quality, and cost impacts

· Identify potential changes in scope due to issues, risks, or accommodating altered requirements

· Communicate with and direct subcontracted project resources as necessary

· Engage with engineering team and relevant support staff (i.e. Purchasing, Customer Service) daily or as required to stay current with progress and issues, both technical and schedule related

· Take necessary actions to assist team members in meeting deadlines and achieving project milestones2.2  Technical and Quality

· Make reasonable effort to understand the technology being used in order to discuss, question, and challenge the design with design team members and the customer

· Possess or obtain understanding of relevant methodologies, processes, regulations, and standards

· Assure project’s commitment to quality and ‘fitness for purpose’; utilize outside resources (specialists, experts, literature) as required to assess and understand market expectations, functional, and performance standards

· Ensure acceptance criteria for project deliverables are defined2.3  Organization and Process

· Generate documents, including requirements specifications, contracts, schedules, project reports, communication (email) records, design specifications, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports as requested/required

· Collaborate with Engineering Manager as requested to define, implement, and maintain engineering project planning, monitoring, and reporting processes

· Collaborate with Engineering Manager as requested to define, implement, and maintain configuration management and data control processes, including organization and control of electronic design artifacts2.4  Customer Interface

· Interface with customers to discuss project activities, project status, and to address technical concerns

· Collaborate as requested to generate proposals and customer quotations

· Maintain organized records of critical customer correspondence

· Assist in the process of customer complaint and field resolutions as requested2.5  Professional Skills & Development

· Maintain a working knowledge of the company's MRP system

· Understand and follow the company's Quality System

· Maintain organized records of work products

· Stay current with the latest technology as it relates to the company's current and prospective products

· Attend tradeshows, seminars, and/or workshops as proposed or requested

· Provide guidance and mentorship to developing staff3.  Physical Demands

· Ability to lift weights up to 15 lbs

· Sitting at a desk approximately 80% of the work day

· Working at a computer approximately 80% of the work day4.  Work Environment
