Assistant Legal Counsel

Description
FSV is currently seeking an Assistant Legal Counsel to join its legal team. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys varied job responsibilities. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and initiative are essential requirements for this position.
Responsibilities
· Research and advise on various legal matters including regulatory matters, contract law, employment law and general business law
· Provide preventive legal counseling and training, particularly with respect to risks associated with the company's operations, coupled with the creation of policies and practices to guide multiple business and functional leaders and representatives
· Prosecute trademark applications to completion
· Serve as lead attorney on various business activities and transactions, including legal due diligence, contract analyses, as well as drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide array of industry contracts
· Interact and partner with individuals in various business units to provide strategic advice
· Manage assigned projects, develop strategies and implementation plans and take an active role in driving projects to final result
· Research and respond appropriately to federal and state law enforcement requests for information
· Become a legal expert in assigned subject area/legal field, with relevant current knowledge of developments, changes and current application of laws and regulations in the area/field
· Work as a legal generalist with interest and willingness to shoulder and manage additional areas of responsibility over time
· Perform other duties as assigned
Required Experience
· Interpersonal skills that develop high levels of trust and confidence with others
· Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
· Strong research and communication (verbal and written) skills
· Detail oriented with above average planning and organizational skills
· Energetic self starter who displays an unusual degree of initiative
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with superior word processing skills and other software expertise
· Advanced proficiency in computerized legal research tools
· Ability to acquire new knowledge and skills quickly and easily
· Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and other associates
· Critical thinker with the ability to process, analyze and evaluate information in order to form a reasoned judgment/decision
· JD degree from ABA-accredited law school.
· Licensed to practice law in one or more of the 50 states
· At least 4 years experience practicing law with significant legal research experience
· Experience in banking laws a big plus
