About the Role
Supporting platforms with the scale and reliability that Marchex has is a unique and challenging technical problem. Our paid search management product is growing and maturing. We need to be able to provide reliable, high availability systems, while continually supporting the development team that is adding new features. We need exceptional and motivated team members to join our team who can support us in constructing and maintaining the next generation of internet advertising services.
Specific Tasks include
• Deploy software releases to production.
• Communicate system design and implementation details to team members and project leads.
• Assist in reviewing deploy plans.
• Build monitors to track system performance.
• Write technical specifications
• Define assess and define appropriate hardware to meet scaling and
• Troubleshoot software and system issues.
• Support and build QA and test environments
• Mentor others when necessary.
Targeted Qualifications
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a minimum of 3 years in a technical field.
• Knowledge of Perl and Bash
• 2+ years experience supporting large scale systems with near real-time requirements
• Understanding of telephony software and protocols (SIP, RTP, PRI, TDM)
• Thorough knowledge of Unix systems (file descriptors, locks, NFS, etc)
• Good software architecture and debugging skills
• Experience with SQL
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
