Sr. Software Engineer
Sr. Software Engineer Our client is based in the eastern US and has a local engineering office in downtown Seattle. They were founded in 2004 by internet industry pioneers and have over 40 people in engineering (6 locally in Seattle) and are looking for a very experienced engineer to join their Seattle team. In the past year they have grown over 500% in terms of revenues and content volume they serve up through their platform (they currently serve tens of millions of streams a day). They are led by an executive management team with a demonstrated history of growing software startups into profitable public companies with industry leading products. This is an opportunity to be on the forefront developing cutting edge highly scalable Java-based enterprise web systems. Opening is for a senior engineer with previous experience in a high -scale environment to help solve complex scaling issues. The key technologies used include Linux, Java and Oracle. Position will involve replacing 3rd party components that are part of the core platform with home-grown solutions to handle the current and future growth. You'll contribute directly to all phases of development and collaborate closely with other members of the engineering team. Requirements• 7 - 10+ years of software engineering experience developing highly scalable web applications and platforms. • Experience developing software using J2EE technologies a strong plus.• Strong experience delivering products in a RDBMS (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle or alike) environment. • Excitement to work in a private company that is poised for tremendous growth. • BSCS or higher & Excellent communication skills. A plus• Understanding of basic Internet protocols as well as related tools and technologies (e.g. web servers, web browsers).• Basic knowledge of network architectures and network programming as in Remote Procedure Calls (RPC). • Advanced engineering or computer science degree. • Experience working w/ streaming content.
