Senior Buyer, Amazon.ca Books Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Sr. Buyer to manage the Trade Books business for Amazon’s Canada business. The Senior Buyer manages a significant portion of the overall Books business and is responsible for increasing in-stock levels, buying, building and maintaining strong vendor relationships, negotiating purchasing terms and deal-buy terms, creating and implementing merchandising and promotions, and reviewing and analyzing business metrics at a vendor level. The successful candidate will use analysis and business judgment to to increase in-stock levels, improve operational efficiencies, and drive down costs. He or she will be a passionate customer and category advocate and identify and execute on promotions and other projects to make shopping easy and delightful. The Buyer must be an effective leader and communicator in working with some of Amazon’s most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal colleagues and groups. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for retail, a high level of flexibility, commitment, the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task, and a sense of humor. The ideal candidate possesses superb business judgment and should be driven for continuous process improvement, skilled at forging vendor relationships, planning, and forecasting. He/she is a proven leader who delivers results and can help others drive to results. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. The candidate must also possess strong analytical acumen and be comfortable generating and evaluating various forecasts, metrics, and analyses. He/she is adept at problem-solving and managing multiple priorities effectively and efficiently. Communication skills (both oral and written) are also key. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is required, as well as an ability to learn web-based software applications and other internally-developed systems. A background in retail or e-commerce is a plus. MBA preferred.
