Full Time, Temporary/Contract/Project Job Category: IT/Software Development Mainframe/Web Tester Software Test Engineer - Contract to hire Seattle, WAThe Test Engineer will have an active role in the strategy, planning and scheduling of the testing activities to assure that developed products meet design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. The engineer will also be responsible for tasks with cross-functional teams. In addition, the engineer: plans and coordinates communication of issues with execution of test cases; researches and implements improved testing methods, processes, tools, and test systems. In support of the SDLC, the engineer confers with development and business analyst team peers as well as the development and operations team management for the planning and development of test strategies for new feature sets. The engineer must acquire excellent understanding of product, integrations, clients, and total product life cycle. In addition, understands entire development process, including design, programming and documentation, and will be proficient in testing products according to company's QA process and industry best practices. The engineer is familiar with relevant business issues as they impact overall project plans. Effective communication and collaboration is essential to the engineer’s success.Principal Responsibilities1. Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and phases of test operations. 2. Writes the test plan for a project, and coordinates phases of the tests. 3. Creates and executes individual test cases. 4. Analyzes and interprets test data, and writes test results and coverage reports. 5. Participates in test plan and case reviews. 6. Confers with development and technical associates to resolve problems identified during the testing process. 7. Keeps abreast of current and emerging technologies to maintain skill levels necessary to provide quality service to customers. 8. Performs other related duties as required.Experience- 5 years as a Test Engineer. - Experience with SDLC Methodology (Waterfall, Agile) - Experience creating and verifying testing-time estimates and scheduling - Familiarity with automated testing, automated issue tracking, testing techniques and operating systems Specialized - In-depth knowledge of testing concepts, practices and procedures - Excellent organizational and analytical skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills (i.e. reading comprehension, listening skills and concise communication) - Excellent testing skills, with knowledge of test planning and execution - Familiarity with automated testing, automated issue tracking, testing techniques and operating systems - Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment - Experience with Agile frameworks (i.e. – Scrum, XP). - Experience with Mainframe applications preferred (JCL, DB2, TSO, COBOL, SQL) - Experience with Web Testing preferred (XML, ASP.Net) - Billing Systems a plus.
