WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THIS JOB?
Design, create, and execute load tests for various IT projects.
Analyze load test results, compile analysis into reports, and present findings to project teams.
Translate performance specifications into effective test scripts and load test scenarios.
Conduct risk analysis to determine key areas of performance risk prior to developing load tests.
Participate in application and technology requirements, design and functionality reviews when required to drive the quantitative definition of performance requirements.
Partner with project teams to ensure that the load test approach is understood.
Participate in reviews of load test plans, test scenario designs, and test automation code.
Build relationships with project teams, mentor and coach them in conducting effective load tests.
Help define and implement best practices, standards, and processes as they apply to load testing.
Collaborate with other Test Designers, Test Automators, Test Managers, Test Executors and Test Architects to automate load tests for specified application areas.
Assist in defining and implementing performance test requirements and standards.
WHAT ARE THE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND KEY MEASURES OF THIS POSITION?
Ensure that load tests cases are automated efficiently and effectively. Consult with development and test designers on software and system design which facilitates sound load tests.
Ensure application and technology teams clearly understand the interface between system design and load test design and how to design for high performance. Leverage load test knowledge, learnings, and skills across projects. Identify and capitalize on opportunities for projects to embrace load testing that delivers deep coverage and limits deployment risk.
Participate in reviews and inspections that pertain to the inputs for specifying load test requirements as well as the load test automation code. Ensure that there is a closed loop from the system design to the test design to load testing to the defects identified.
Leverage system and load test expertise in reviews and inspections. Working with project teams, ensure that each performance defect found is analyzed for source and solution, and that any application modifications are accounted for within the test scripts.
Implement the load test strategy within the test architecture framework. Support load test activities in accordance with the Application Testing Center policies and standards.
Provide high quality load test support. Input to the application Testing Center infrastructure ensuring load test automation systems meet the requirements of projects. Identify opportunities to control costs and maintain service levels while maintaining an acceptable level of risk.
Requirements Degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent degree.
5+ years experience creating, implementing, and executing load tests across an enterprise or division of a large enterprise. (Relevant experience for the successful candidate is a minimum of 85% – 90% of their time dedicated to performance testing. Manual testing and functional automation with tools such as QTP or Winrunner do not count)
At least 4 years experience with LoadRunner
At least 3 years experience with C (or similar) programming language
Specialized experience in load testing, including design and execution, for n-tiered application development and frameworks.
Specialized expertise in implementing design for sound performance guidelines and providing technical advice and counsel to application and technology development teams regarding performance.
Understanding of technology and its practical application to load testing of complex systems.
Creative technical problem solver. Can handle change and ambiguity.

Position requires candidate to keep up with the pace of change within their assigned technical area. Although this position supports one or more projects, each has its own unique requirements and technical drivers, which must be understood and delivered to.
Position requires building and maintaining relationships with assigned project teams, each with a different operating style. Candidate, through both technical and business acumen, must strike the balance between supporting the needs of the business while preserving the integrity of the load test architecture and the system design strategy.
Service a multi-project base, maintain project relationships at the Manager and Individual contributor level.
Support the implementation of the Application Testing Center. Mentor test design knowledge transfer to projects. Drive “design for performance” upstream.
