Jr. Network Engineer with UNIX and Veritas Netbackup

The Jr. Network Engineer will be responsible for routine testing and analysis of all local area network hardware and software in a network of 1300 users. Will monitor LAN performance and recommend corrective action when necessary. May serve as technical resource to LAN users. Also, will apply understanding and knowledge of information systems products and services to assist internal users on complex matters. Responsible for recognizing, researching, isolating and resolving information systems problems.



Responsibilities
• Install, configure and maintain servers and associated peripheral tape libraries necessary to perform Legato Networker and Veritas Netbackup enterprise-wide system backups and restores.
• Install security patches, O/S updates and perform preventive maintenance on multiple Linux, Unix and Windows servers.
• Run weekly security scans on assigned systems and mitigate vulnerabilities identified.
• Create and manage user accounts in a Windows/Active Directory 2003 high-availability environment.
• Back up multiple servers.

Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years experience as a LAN Administrator or Systems Engineer
• 3 years experience working with Active Directory, SAN and Veritas
• Proficiency in UNIX/Linux, as well as:
 
RedHat Linux 3.X and/or Unix Solaris8.X and 9.X, Windows Active Directory 2003, Veritas Netbackup 6.X, Legato Networker 5.X, Quantum DX series virtual tape libraries, M1800 tape libraries, TeamQuest, Security Expressions, AppDetective. Xiotech 3D SAN experience a plus.
