MS SQL SERVER DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR The Information Systems Department of our client has an opening for a Sr. MS SQL Server DBA in the Birmingham, Alabama home office. Person in this role will provide the following: Provide database support for the MS SQL Server Client/Server Database Development, Implementation and Maintenance: Offer effective and efficient database design techniques balanced with corporate standards and data integrity; Production support and Disaster Recovery of Databases that reside in Relational Database Management Systems comprised of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2000 both clustered and non-clustered; Responsible for tactical support planning and Interfacing with customers. (i.e. Project Managers, Data Administrators, System Developers, Production Management, and End Users) RESPONSIBILITIES: • Install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability• Troubleshoot production processes and solve problems in real-time• Support the production database systems, respond to, and resolve production issues.• Conduct maintenance tasks• Organize work priorities and manage time effectively.· Creation/maintenance/migration of all database objects· Problem determination and solving in a client/server environment· Backup/Recovery of all database objects including Disaster Recovery· Design review of all database objects· Participate in industry user groups as a member of the PASS (Professional Association for SQL Server), SSUG (SQL Server Users Group), and SQL Team associations. REQUIREMENTS: · 3-5 years experience as a Database Analyst of a MS SQL Server 2005 and 2000· Thorough experience developing/maintaining applications that use a Relational Database Management System· Thorough experience with Data Modeling and Data Modeling Tools (ex. Cayenne or Power Designer)· Thorough experience with Computer Operation Systems (ex. Windows 2003/2000 Server, WIN XP)· Thorough experience with writing/maintaining Scripts in support of DBA duties· College degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience· Ability to problem solve with regards to: Major Upgrades to Database Management System ; Migrations to new Hardware; Impact analysis of migrating changes to Production databases; Troubleshooting T-SQL and ODBC related problems; Tactical Planning of Internet Infrastructure as it relates to databases (I.E. – Security, Topology, etc.)· Has analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.· Supporting many vendor purchased and in-house developed Client/Server Applications· SQL Server DTS· SQL Server Integration Services required· SQL Server Analysis Services a plus· SQL Server Reporting Services a plus· Proficient in T-SQL · Replication a plus· Exposure to Business Intelligence practices· Quest software’s SQL LiteSpeed· Precise Software’s i3 suite for MS SQL Server, Windows, · Embarcadero Technology’s DBArtisan.· Regular work schedule will be from 9AM to 6PM, Monday - Friday, and will require after hours support as needed.· Excellent oral/written communication skills, problem solving and analysis skills, ability to work well with others and as an individual, self-motivated, good leadership qualities, strong work ethic, dependable and trustworthy. · Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment· Must be positive, enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated Job Reference Code: SQLS080808 Company: Modis, Inc.
