Prepares and presents reports that analyze financial results and market trends. Develops tools and methods to monitor and evaluate financial and operational results. Analyzes and develops cost allocations. Leads finance projects and activity based costing initiatives. Conducts analyses and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, claim trends, benefit plan experience and sales. Reviews industry trends and activities. Conducts and performs competitive analysis and may make recommendations for improvement or to achieve desired objectives. Creates, prepares and distributes reports, charts, graphs, and other documents using a variety of personal computer and web based applications and software. Acts as technical resource and provides expertise to other staff members. May work directly with senior management on a wide variety of projects and issues. Assists in the development of business policies and operating controls. May assist in the training of department staff. Participates in data mining processes and methods that will establish standardized reporting of data. May provide assistance to assigned departments in the formulation of budgets. May participate in monitoring budgets, staffing tasks, expense ratios, trends occurring throughout the budget year, expense items, and other key factors. Researches and presents factual responses to variance questions. May work with the Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) process. May monitor data for internal sales contests, develop contest reports, provide results and cost-effectiveness measures, and otherwise support the sales function. May review and recommend changes in sales compensation plans. May be actively involved in large automation projects to ensure appropriate controls are implemented and maintained. May coordinate benefits reporting and related external audit activities. Qualifications Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of related work experience. Certification such as CFA, CMA or CPA beneficial. Previous financial analysis experience, particularly in the insurance industry, preferred. Familiarity with cost allocations and activity based costing concepts, beneficial. Experience working with PC-based business software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation applications. Experience working with PeopleSoft Fiancial applications, beneficial. Excellent research and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills.
