Decision Support Analyst

We're looking for a highly motivated Decision Support Analyst willing to
learn and/or improve existing skills through independent study, classroom education, and on-the-job training. This person must be team oriented and possess a high level of initiative with a positive "can do" attitude and a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.

 

As a Decision Support Analyst you will:
• Learn and keep up-to-date with current PEMCO data structures.
• Maintain a high level of expertise in current Decision Support techniques
and associated technologies (i.e. Relational Database concepts, database
access tools, information synthesis tools, etc.).
• Perform research and process decision support information requests from
customers (PEMCO business partners). This includes clarifying data
requests, finding the location of the data, determining the optimum method
for and then retrieving, verifying the accuracy of, analyzing, and
synthesizing the data into information that will be presented to the
customer.
• Perform statistical analysis including but not limited to:
Selecting sampling populations, determining sampling errors, performing multivariate,
regression, and time-series analysis, analysis of variance, and calculating
probabilities.
• Perform other Decision Support related tasks such as database verification, serving
on project teams, establishing and maintaining professional rapport with
our Business Intelligence customers.

 

Our strongest candidates will also have:
• Insurance business knowledge or experience.
• Working knowledge of relational technology including database structures,
data models, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Passed one or more Actuarial exams.
• Certificate in General Insurance or equivalent.
• Programming knowledge or experience.
• Experience using Business Objects software.
• Strong presentation skills.


To be considered a strong candidate, you must possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Finance, or Economics.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Mathematical or Statistical proficiency.
• Ability to learn complex concepts quickly.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Effective organizational skills.
• Aptitude for learning a variety of Decision Support tools.
• Strong PC skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
programs and familiarity with modern Windows operating systems.
