Business Continuity Planner

The Business Continuity Planner will provide support to the Business Continuity Manager.  This person will be responsible for maintaining and adhering to the company policies, processes and procedures for business continuity planning utilizing industry standards. The Planner will support the enterprise wide Business Continuity program development, implementation, exercise and maintenance including education and awareness. The Planner will work with business and support units to ensure that Business Continuity plans are proactively updated and maintained to reflect all significant changes in the business. -Work with the Business Continuity Manager in performing risk and business impact analysis. Summarize findings and provide reports for senior management. -Work with infrastructure and support units on projects and processes developing and implementing strategies to mitigate business risks. the individual will work closely with the other Emergency Management staff, Technology Services, primary operating departments and business units. -Provide advisory support for the development and maintenance of business unit BC plans. Work with business units to ensure that recovery processes are current and effective for the resumption of critical business functions. Ensure that BCP issues and concerns are addressed.  -Support the planning and coordination of business recovery exercises for business and support areas. Document the exercise results and assist business units with developing mitigations. -Support the BCP education and awareness program for all business and support units throughout the company including developing training workshops and drafting training documentation. May assist in delivering BCP training to business units. -Be on-call 24/7 for emergency response and EOC activations. Provide support to the Crisis Management Team in the coordination and communication of response and recovery activities. -Maintain the BCP intranet site, updating and providing relevant content. -Other duties as assigned.   Job Requirements: Bachelor degree in Business, Emergency Management or a related field with 3+ years of work experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery and/or Emergency Management is required. Current certification in Business Continuity required. Applicant should demonstrate BCP proficiency and experience including business impact analysis, risk assessments, recovery planning and exercises. Experience in the insurance industry preferred.  Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of responsibility within the organization. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and solid analytical and problem-solving abilities. Position requires strong attention to detail with above-average project management skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
