Must Be 18 Years Or Older To Apply. Position Objective and Responsibility 1. To use Standard Operating Procedures of the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown Hotel Marriott International Standard Operating Procedures, and any Local Standard Operating Procedures as a guide to the standards and practices which are to be followed by all associates in this department and discipline to answer questions, to resolve problems, and to insure compliance with all laws and company policies. 2. To maintain a tradition and attitude of having the desire to provide excellent service to all customers and associates in the hotel which will, in turn, support their efforts to provide excellent service to customers and to other associates of the hotel. To respond sensitively to the needs and feelings of others, regardless of status or position; to accept interpersonal differences and to maintain rapport. 3. To be willing to train and to instruct other members of the department and the hotel by passing along skills and information to assist them in their development and advancement. 4. To strive to become an independent associate, able to analyze problems and to formulate plans to overcome challenges to get work done quickly with a high degree of quality. To make sound and logical decisions and to choose appropriate courses of action based on the parameters of the situation at hand and use the problem solving tools (L.E.A.R.N.) that are available through the Total Quality Management process. 5. To help create an ongoing effort to improve the hotel and the department through personal action and by contributing ideas to support the improvement effort. 6. To understand the hotel as a business and become familiar with the hotel’s profit objectives and the relationship between this departments budget and hotel revenue. 7. To assist the guests in Starbucks and all individual requests for service and information in accordance with Corporate and local Standard Operating Procedures(SOP), while maintaining a high level of guest hospitality and attention to detail.Job Prerequisites 1. Neat, professional in appearance, meeting all Marriott/Starbucks standards of appearance and grooming. Have an outgoing, people oriented personality which conveys pride in working for Marriott which is demonstrated by a ready smile and a willingness to assist others. 2. Ability to function calmly in a fast paced environment handling multiple priorities simultaneously. To be able to deal with situations of a dynamic nature; to be able to modify plans, actions and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances. Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown 3. Great communication and organizational skills. Ability to communicate with associates to handle requests correctly and quickly. Good under pressure and able to remain calm in stressful situations. 4. A valid Food Handler’s Permit is required at time of employment. Copy of certification must be on file with Starbucks Supervisor. 5. Knowledge of Marriott Food and Beverage Standards. 6. The ability to lift, push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds. This position requires frequent bending and stooping of which the incumbent must be capable of performing. 7. To be a strong contributor in reaching department goals to provide guest/customer satisfaction.Anticipate customer/store needs. 8. To be able to read by sight, operating procedures, forms, memoranda, journals and machine instructions. 9. To be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide common numbers and decimal numbers. 10. Requires the ability to use a cash register (MICROS) and follow all cash handling procedures. Sales and retail experience is necessary. Specific Job Duties 1. To maintain a clean, neat well organized work place free from clutter which projects a professional atmosphere and which supports the general goals of the department provides a desirable work place. Provide quality beverage & food consistently by adhering to all Recipe & presentation standards. 2. To cross train and be familiar with and competent in the performance and understanding of other functions required of this department and be able to fill in as required and as directed in the absence of associates who are normally responsible for those duties. 3. To be aware of all existing accident prevention and safe work programs in the hotel and to work in a manner free from unsafe acts and to create a safe environment which other may work. 4. Knowledge of all specific duties related to this position. 5. Report to your workstation immediately after punching in. 6. Handle and follow through to resolve all guest complaints presented to you by the associate. Use the L.E.A.R.N. process to resolve guest issues or complaints. 7. Perform any other duties as necessary or as requested by management. 8. At the completion of your shift or any time during your shift, if you need to leave your work area, you must first report this to your manager/supervisor before leaving your work/floor area. 9. Assist all guests/customers in the Starbucks in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. 10. Handle all phases of the cash register such as associate discounts, voids, charges and all cash sales. 11. Complete all daily and weekly assigned work. These assignments are either verbal instructions or are listed on your daily checklists. 12. Check Daily Event Sheets for any special events or activities that might impact your area and plan and act appropriately to be prepared for business which might otherwise be unexpected and cause delays in service. 13. Sanitation is top priority, as important as food quality. Follow your cleaning schedule and remember to “Clean as you go”. 14. Relieve associates for breaks; make sure breaks are being taken. 15. Ensure all associates are afforded a workplace free from any kind harassment. 16. Maintain a high standard of general appearance at all times. 17. Be able to open/close the Starbucks following all procedures as instructed by your supervisor. 18. Develop a thorough knowledge of all items in Starbucks. 19. Restock stations and merchandise sold off the floor on an as needed basis or daily basis. 20. Assist with inventories as needed. Be aware of merchandise available; have knowledge of price and selection of goods on hand. Assist with ticketing goods; help with displays. 21. Assist with the training of new associates. 22. Learns & demonstrates creating the Starbucks experience. 23. Completes Initial Store Training and passes barista certification with a score of 90% or better.
