Customer Account Representative

Job Description Aurora Health Care currently has an opening for a Customer Accounts Representative.

Greeting patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner and responding to routine requests for information.
Checking patients in; Assisting patients in completing all necessary forms; obtaining demographic and insurance information for customers and verifies insurance coverage.
Collecting co-pays, deductibles, and previous balances; posting payments and updates on-line
Scheduling patients in the Physician Practice Management System
Answering telephone, screening calls, taking messages
Sorting and routing medical documentation to the appropriate location.
Entering charges accurately and in a timely manner
Maintaining work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner.
Responding to complaints, either verbally or in writing.
Arranging for payment of outstanding balance; Advising patients on financial options available within the community.
Ensures information obtained is complete and accurate, applying acquired knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third party payer requirements.
Maintains clinic reference material as they pertain to the referral policies of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer requirements.

General Qualifications
Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field plus one year of job related experience; OR, in lieu of degree, three years of demonstrable customer relations experience in a similar job in a health care environment.
Knowledge of third-party payers and pre-authorization requirements.
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Exceptional human relations/customer service skills and a high degree of diplomacy and tact needed.
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Proficiency in using computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel required

Desired Qualifications
Previous general accounting experience, such as accounts receivables/payables.
Experience using a billing system such as SMX or IDX.
