Washington State Children’s Administration currently has vacancies for child welfare social workers in Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties. Qualified candidates will work within the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to improve the quality of life for individuals and families in need. The Department helps achieve safe self-sufficient, healthy and secure lives. DSHS offers comprehensive and coordinated social, health and financial services to meet the unique needs and strengthen individuals and families. Thousands of children and families in Washington are impacted each year by services provided by Children’s Administration. Last year one in 20 children in Washington was referred to Child Protective Services for suspected child abuse and neglect.
The mission of Children’s Administration is first to protect abused and neglected children, to support the efforts of families to care for and parent their own children safely and to provide quality care and permanent families for children in partnership with parents and kin, Tribes, foster parents and communities.
Social workers within DSHS Children’s Administration will perform an advanced level of specialized case management in Children and Family Services. Specialties include:
· Child Welfare Services
· Child Protective Services
· Family Reconciliation Services
· Indian Child Welfare Services
· Family Voluntary Services
Positions at this level work with little supervision and exercise independent judgment. This includes the responsibility to devise and manage his or her personal workload.
Requirements Include:
· A Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences or an allied field and two years of case management experience working with children and families
